Introduction PDF Print E-mail
Apple Tree Montessori School opened in 1978 with one classroom of 20 students.  It grew to two schools with 70 students and now has a single facility in Southwest Broward County for over 300 students. This facility is state-of-the-art, especially built for Montessori.  Our philosophy has remained the same,  "Every child given freedom and a spark of learning enthusiasm will explore and excel in all academic areas".

So it's never too late to start your child in the Montessori Program.

The teachers at Apple Tree Montessori have been trained specifically in Montessori philosophy and methods.  The Montessori method is reflected by the teacher in each classroom; one who prepares the environment, offers the child guidance, stimulation and functions as a catalytic agent and guide.  The teacher is truly the link between the child and the 'prepared environment'. The work by itself motivates the child; the teachers make the classroom exciting enough to inspire this learning.

Environment PDF Print E-mail

The Montessori classroom environment is carefully planned.  It has a particular order and is designed to encourage children to develop their capabilities, in a non-competitive atmosphere. This environment encourages the children's discipline, order, and cooperativeness with others.  Individually, they develop a sense of responsibility, concentration, high self-esteem, and appreciation for other people, and the world.

Most learning patterns (good or bad) begin at birth and are firmly established by the age of eight. Apple Tree offers children a rich background in phonics, reading readiness, number manipulation, perceptual concepts and vocabulary enrichment.  By Kindergarten virtually all students can read (using phonics), understand basic math skills, and have developed a good foundation in science.
Continuing through first, second and subsequent grades the student's excitement, interest, and skill levels are built from this firm foundation.
